  Chinatown: Whose Place?
This is an online version of David Chan's dissertation, King's College London, 2002.

London’s Chinatown is a place utilized by not only the Chinese, but by various people within London for whom it has many different meanings. This study wishes to establish which of these groups, if any, can lay claim to Chinatown as their place. It will look at its history, what is there, who is there, its environment, and the people that have constructed Chinatown, using theories of a ‘sense of place’ and the ‘insider outsider’ dualism, to hopefully come to a conclusion.
